7th Grade ELA
Skills & Intent:
Seventh grade skills build upon those of sixth, in analyzing and writing texts of various genres and complexities. Students are expected to read novels provided in class and also of their own choosing. Writing will include to inform, persuade and to entertain, and will include continued improvement in mechanics and spelling. Students will be expected to write on demand for specific amounts of time, and at their leisure. Oral recitation of text is also an important part of the class, as students need to learn to become comfortable in speaking in front of an audience. This may include memorization of small verses, debating opposing opinions, or performance of skits. All in all, English Language and Literature is meant to explore the power of human communication. |
